10 ways to save $

this ten on Tuesday post is right up my alley:
FOOD

  • Eat at HOME
  • Pack your lunch instead of buying out
  • Scan the weekly flier and plan menus around what's on sale
  • Make a list for the grocery store and stick to it
  • Only go grocery shopping once a week
  • Cut coupons and USE THEM
  • Buy in bulk whenever possible (if that indeed is cheaper)

HOME ENERGY

  • Turn down your thermostat, especially when you aren't at home and when you are home, wear a sweater
  • Wrap your water heater
  • Have your furnace cleaned
  • Check the seals on windows and doors
  • Turn off the water while you brush your teeth
  • Take shorter showers
  • If it's yellow let it mellow, when it's brown flush it down
  • Cook larger amounts (ie double) and freeze the second portion to reheat later

ELECTRICITY

  • Turn out lights when you aren't in the room
  • Unplug things that aren't being usedm ie TVs, DVDs, computer

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Use your public library for books and recordings
  • Buy you clothing at thrift shops, op shops or resale boutiques
  • UPcycle as much as you are able (that means yarn too!)
  • Before buying extra something wait a week or two, maybe you'll decide you don't need it after all
  • Take public transportation, car pool or ride a bike if possible

There are so many more, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Check out my 10 on Tuesday meme friends to see what they came up with

You have a lot of great ideas on your list! I am all about recycled yarn and do that all the time! I just finished a great shawl from two former sweaters of my my late grandfather and it is a favorite piece now!

Great ideas! I must try harder to implement them in my every day life...I'm afraid I'm a "spender" when it comes to my obsessions (ie, knitting, etc)....
Happy Holidays!
