to whet the appetite

this is a short post....I have lots of pics and FOs to show but no time... we got our new windows Monday and Tuesday and I have to finish putting the house back together AND take the kids shopping for uniforms...but here we go.

These first two cloths came about because we went tot he beach for a week and I didn't want to take the computer (with all my knitting patterns on it) with me... With 3 kids and 3 adults we had enough to schlep. So I thought about take my knitting stitches Perpetual Calendar... and I could make cloths from those patterns! So here's what I came up with:

Pattern: adapted from 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar
June 19 Checkerboard
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton
Color: Navy
Needle Size: 7

I was making this in the dark in the car and I lost track of how many rows I had done for each square near the end, so the pattern got a bit goofy.... so I decided to increase the size of the squares as they moved to one end. I was disappointed in the yarn, I came across 2 knots while making this dishcloth..... this never happens with P&C or S&C :-(

Pattern: adapted from 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar
February 21 Tweed Mock Rib
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Blue Ombre ?
Needle Size: 7

I decided to try this as a cloth after I started making a bag for the triominoes set we were giving to the ILs. Of course we forgot to bring it along to the beach, so I didn't finish that there. My SIL went directly from the beach to the airport. Talk about a long trip home! (especially with 3 little ones)

Next is from the Love2Knit Dishcloth Yahoo Group Summer KAL:

Pattern: GW's Spinning Wheel
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Patio Pinks
Needle Size: 7

This was supposed to be done on a larger needle. I think because I that, I needed more pattern repeats to complete the round. When the last day came GW said to use the cast on tail to close up the hole. I had knitted the end in as I always do, so had no yarn to cinch the hole shut... oh well... I love the colors though!

And the last cloth is:

Pattern: Lacy Shamrock by Rachel
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Hot Pink
Needle Size: 6

I goofed this one up a bit... lost track of where I was in the pattern so it looks more like a flower. Oh well!

I finished the Lucy Purse at the beach... felted it at home.. pictures will be forthcoming as will the TriOminoes bag, once it's finished.

Here's one of the sand sculptures we made at the beach. DD helped decorate it and came up with the great idea of using spaghetti seaweed for the hair. Of course the day we made it, the ocean was really rough and clam shells were hard to find, otherwise her tail would have been more complete.

Happy crafting!

Muchos fotos

Por que la lengue, preguntas? Well my SIL arrived today, so the house is filled with Castellano, and switching is difficult for me...
As promised, I have some pictures of the 5 finished cloths. The ballband is still OTN, it's a bit over half done. I took pictures withouth blocking since I'll block all 6 at the same time, but it will give you an idea of what has been clicking on my needles. Without further ado…

Pattern: Hot Chocolate by Alli Barrett at Knit Wits Heaven
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Softly Taupe
Needle: Susan Bates size 6

This is larger than I was hoping, but the picture is too cute. I thought about changing the border so the size would be the same as the others but that would leave out the beans... so I left it as is.

Pattern: Chinese Waves Circular Cloth (sorry I can't find the link right now)
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Yellow Ombre (?) I'll check the band later
Needles: Susan Bates size 6

If I make this one again, I need to remember to cast off a bit looser... since the last part is seaming the radius of the circle.

Pattern: VW cloth by Maude Beaudreault
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Yellow
Needles: Susan Bates size 6

A has a yellow bug, so I thought this cloth would be perfect for her!

Pattern: Rhonda White's The Infamous Darrell Waltrip Cloth
Yarn: Peaches and Cream
Color: Butter & Cream
Needles: Susan Bates size 6

I love this pattern... I really never tire of it with a varigated yarn.

Pattern: Sunshine by Andi Worthy
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Sunshine Yellow
Needles: Susan Bates size 6

This was the KAL for July in the Monthly Dishcloth KAL group. One of the group mom's designed the pattern. Visit her site to see her other designs

I'll try to finish ballband by tmrw and post that picture. But as I said, my SIL arrived this morning from Argentina, we haven't seen her for a year, so there's a lot to catch up on. She of course came bearing gifts. Here are just a few!
These are buttons from a local fair. Literally it's just around the corner from her house. They put up shop on Sundays and all kinds of taller (artists) are there selling their wares. From leather goods to wooden buttons, wooden trays, spoons, jewelry, paintings.. you name it, if it's artsy you'll find it there. Each part of the city of Buenos Aires seems to have one, Recoleta is the most famous, but the one near her is in San Isidro close to the tren de la costa. She also picked up this wool yarn for me, thinking I can use it as an accent on a sweater or scarf or something. It's incredibly soft and I love it. The colors are all natural from the wool. It's 3 ply thick and thin, where the thick part is like pencil roving... I have to think of something really wonderful to showcase this yarn!

My MIL sent along this lovely cotton yarn for me. The hanks are HUGE. You can see that as they compare to the size of my laptop. I LOVE the colors. Do they know me or what??? My SIL made the kids T-shirts. I'll post pictures of them later, but she is an incredible artist and it's amazing that she drew the pictures herself! What talent that woman has. I'm in awe.

I leave you with one of the sunflowers from my garden. I didnt' plant any this year. The seeds had dropped from one of the plants I DID plant last year. Now the plants are about 12 feet tall. My DH teases me that one day I'm going to disappear up into the clouds like Jack and the Beanstalk.

4 down, 2 to go

I have 2 cloths to make yet for A. I hope she likes them. I think I'll give them to her before we leave for the shore cuz when we get back, she'll be on vacation (I think) My idea is to do the hot chocolate cloth (in disguise of coffee) and a ballband yet. I wanted to keep a yellow theme, but the hot chocolate cloth will look kind of dumb in yellow so I'm opting for softly taupe. I promise pictures soon.

I've been spinning as well. I've decided that I much prefer the flicker to carding. I'll card the stuff that I pull out of the flicker to get a few rolags when it's all said and done.

I opened up Lily... a rambo/shetland cross fleece I bought a few months ago this morning. My goal is to have her washed by Friday. Guess I should get started on that as well. I have 3 more fleeces to wash and then at least they'll all be ready to pick/clean. There were 2 bags with fleece in the box. At first I was disappointed. The first bag I opened had LOTS of vm and the skirting had left some sheep poo in the fleece.. so I was bumming until I opened bag 2 and that was an incredibly beautiful fleece... OMGosh, I can't wait to spin that baby! I have to add, she's washing up so incredibly.. the nice part is all I've gotten done so far. 12 lingerie bags worth... it's like a cloud! should be easy to clean and flick too :-D

I've been freecycling like crazy, but people say they'll pick up and never show... I mean why respond if you aren't interested?

DD and I started to decorate a wood magazine file today. I bought 3 of them at IKEA on Sunday. We also got a bookshelf like this but only 4 shelves instead of 7, since our other broke, and a dresser for the attic so that my SIL has a place to put her clothes while she's here. Slowly but surely, the back room is emptying out and looking less like an office. I hope to have it all finished by the end of the summer so those sweet little boy babies of ours can sleep in their own space! We found the perfect bunks for them at IKEA as well. Well the picture doesn't look like a bunk, but they had a mattress under the loft, which is perfect for DS2, so we'll be sure to make a return trip while the SIL is here!

I'm really working on getting this place together and that eventually includes my stash. ;-)

Yesterday was opening day

And I did open my puffy and intended to post last night, but plans were changed for me. Anyway here is the picture of my puffy package from my great partner, Ruth in Ohio. A birdhouse, and the pattern is from the book, Melissa's Garden. I really love the cloth. It's also knitted so beautifully! Along with the cloth was included a magnet with a bird and birdhouse (too perfect for that cloth) and a calendar that I can carry along in my bag. Brought me a bit more of spring :-) Thanks again Ruth... I love my goodies

This is the cloth I sent her. I included a little notepad as well but didn't take a picture of that. The pattern is Lacy Waves by Alli Barrett and I found it as part of the dishcloth calendar addendum. It's a blue and white ombre that I forget the name of. Knit on #7 needles

I started putting the blanket together today. I have one strip done.. I brought 2 home to work on (in the slight case I could find ANY free time) I still have 2 bathmats to finish... and of course the tie and poncho and a dishcloth from Rachel's KAL.
I was spinnning for about 20 minutes yesterday. It seems as though if I keep my hands really close together and peddle faster but let it in slower, there is less breaking. If I only had a decent chunk of time to work on that.

OK.. there's far too much work for me to do at home. I'll be lucky to knit or sew 1 stitch tonight!

As promised

Pattern: Flower Cloth by Rhonda White
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Hot Green
Needles: Size 7 Knit Picks Options

This was a KAL for the Love2Knit Dishcloth yahoo group. The picture doesn't do the color justice. I think there are too many reds in this photo... It's in natural light but isn't accurate in color

Pattern: Woozy by smariek
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Beach Ball Blue
Needles: Size 7 Knit Picks Options

I love the colors in this yarn. Fun, fun, fun. This was the KAL for the Dishcloth Fun yahoo group But I think Judith left out some rows in the middle. According to the picture on smariek's page, there should be a double cable crossing in the middle (as it happens on either end) but there's only one crossing. The cloth is kind of small as well. Adding that cable crossing would add a bit more to the length of the cloth and almost make it square.

Dinner last night was fine. I was feeling really poorly though. I think perhaps it's strep throat. I came home and went to bed. I had the angel hair pasta with artichoke hearts (mmm) a half portion and I didn't even eat half of that... no desert for me thank you very much. The company was great though. The guest of honor, Antoinette, is the sister of the lady who wrote the book Song of Survival. The book's author, Helen, nor their younger sister who was also interred with them, didn't sing in the chorus but Antoinette did. Their mother was in a different camp and their father another one. The father died before the war was over, but all the women survived and moved to the states. I think I remember my DH saying they were from the Netherlands originally. Anyway, they moved to California. Antoinette also helped copy parts out for the vocal orchestra and brought the booklet to the states with her after the war. She kept if for quite some time and when she noticed it was starting to deteriorate, she donated it to Stanford University. In turn, Stanford got a womens choral group together to recreate the concert that the women had given in the POW camp. The story is amazing, if you have time at least rent the DVD.

OK.. I have to straighten up a bit.. Sitter comes at 2:45 (a new sitter at that) so I can go to the concert. I really would rather be curling up in bed but I feel like I should go. Still haven't finished those taxes.....

at last!

I can finally post the picture for the Monthly Dishcloth KAL

Pattern: Basket cloth by Andi Worthy
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Jewels
Needle Size: 7

I could have gone down to a size 6. The switching between Knit and Purl opens it up a bit. But I like how it turned out. What I really like is how it matches one of my IKEA dish towels in color almost perfectly. I hadn't even thought about that... I'll have to make more cloths in this color.

Today was a much better day at knitting class. When the time was over I only had to fix 3. Of course, as usual, the entire time is spent tinking or fixing YOs or picking up dropped stitches, but now as we do it, we're explaining to the kids what they did to make it happen and how to fix the problem. There are the few that have NO confidence in themselves and need constant reassurance but are making no mistakes. Tomorrow is the last day of the formal classes, but I think I'm going to try to continue this somehow with these kids. I have kids from last week's class carrying around their own yarn and needles this week. It's so cool to see!

Update on knitting

I forgot to mention that at school yesterday 6 of my new knitters didn't show. There was a miscommunication between them and their teachers, so after school on Monday during chorus rehearsal I had 2 students ask if they could come to knitting even though they weren't on the list. Thinking I was down 6, I said sure! Well of the six, 4 of them came and another asked if she could trade spots with one that had been missing... add to that one more and I wound up with 8 new knitters today! Total = 26! My helper is a champ... she totally rocks. I grabbed the newbies, she took the fixes... Now mind you, every single one of them stopped first thing in the morning to grab their knitting to do when they were on down time from the test. I had all fixed but 2. So tonight I had to bring home 12 projects to pick up stitches here and there or to fix YOs or spots where they had knitted in the stitch below.....The picture on the left is what's ready to go back to school tmrw. I had to make sure that all were ready to go, because this group is REALLY enthusiastic. It does my heart good. :-D

On another note, I wanted to post a picture of Lily's fleece as it had been shorn off of her instead of crammed into the little box. That way you can see what a beautiful fleece she produces.

And last but not least, the cloth I did today (no not at work, after I got home)

Pattern: Right Angles Dishcloth by DilysSutherland Dishcloth Fun Mid March KAL
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Rosewood
Needle: Size 7 bamboo DPNS

I still can't post my cloth from the Monthly Dishcloth Group KAL because they haven't finnished. They should be done Wednesday but for me that's tmrw cuz I need to sleep. I'll put it all up tmrw night.

DS1 went to the dr. today. He seems to have a slight case of Pneumonia. SO he's on a wicked strong antibiotic. He's been sleeping so much and not eating hardly at all, which is so unlike him on both counts. DH has been home with hhim since Friday, but I can't not go in this week with the knitting thing.

I'm falling asleep at the keyboard.. .time for bed.

More fleece

My rambo cross arrived today.. and boy is she a beaut. So soft and smells incredibly good... if you're reading this Holly, I kid you not, it was like a sweet smell when I opened the box. It's crammed packed with soft white Lily fleece. The name of the sheep is Lily...Now I really must stop buying fiber... both raw and spun! At least for a bit HAHA

Holly included a bit of roving from the fleece that she had washed up and flicked with her combs. This will give you an idea of how beautiful this yarn's potential is in the right hands... hope that I can do her justice!

Well week 2 of knitting class started today. I had all new kids. One had her grandma give her a crash course yesterday and today she was FLYING! Another boy had knitted before so he was doing well. I had only 1 leftie, but was well armed and taught her alone... in a true left handed fashion. And I had preloaded the knit stitch video from knittinghelp.com from home, so they got to watch that first off. PLUS, my cohort in crime is an experienced knitter. All in all, it went much much better, and the time really flew... 80 minutes with a large group of new knitters is nothing. I stayed after my chorus rehearsal a fixed a few YOs and dropped stitches and brought only 2 or 3 home to fix for the night.

The boys still have a low-grade fever. I think DS2 is just starting and DS1 is on the mend... hopefully they can tough it out tmrw. Poor kids. They were doomed... 2 weeks ago at my school we were missing 16% of the student body (that's like 110 kids) on one of the days. The rest of the days weren't as bad, but still were high in absenteeism.

I finished the Monthly Dishcloth KAL tonight but can't post a picture because they are about 19 rows behind me. I'll put in a little teaser though. I can start on one of the other KALs now that this one is finished :-)

Happy crafting!

pictures, finally

Well first let me post a picture of the dishcloth I completed the other day.

Pattern: 3 Cherries cloth by Judith Prindle
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Light Blue
Needle Size: 7

I'm thinking of gifting this to my neighbor who I gave a lacy blue cloth to a few weeks back. Her kitchen is blue and they'd look nice together.

Now to go backwards in time... Sunday's post spoke about some little marble magnets DD and I crafted together. We gifted a half dozen to the hostess of the Purim party that we attended that evening. I packaged them in an Altoids gum tin. The picture really stinks, but there are two that have a rather nebulus design, one in purples and the other in oranges and one that is striped. The other three have a flower theme (think spring) One is a drawing of a bird perched on what could be a magnolia or cherry blossom tree, the next is a grouping of yellow flowers (I have some in my garden... you would think I'd know the name) and the third is a stylized purple flower with yellow center. The last one shows up best in the picture... I should get a better camera I guess...It takes great regular shots but really crappy close ups..

I also plied 225 yards of romney last night. I put it on the skein winder to measure tonight and stretch... It looks pretty good even if I say so myself. Today my 5+ pounds of Ramboullet came from the Callens farm The fleece is incredible clean.. I mean truly clean. Barely any VM in it. I was so impressed And the crimp is so fine.. I can't even begin to count it... I think about 16 per inch...I can't wait to dig into it!

I washed a couple pounds of Targhee tonight... started it last night but it's on the drying rack now..

The good news is Day 3 of knitting class went very well. Yesterday was better than the first day. I brought home less to fix. Today, I brought home little to fix and actually let most of the kids take it home with them to work on. They told me we don't have homework we need something to do.. Comments from today were: This is so much fun, I like knitting, Are you going to do this again next year?, Couldn't we have a knitting club after school, It's really relaxing and other kids that aren't involved asked me about next year as well... so I think all in all it's pretty successful and that makes me feel great! Finally teaching them something that they can see value in, because music well it's fun for them, but it's different.

Safe post

I think it's safe to post my picture of the Monthly dishcloth KAL now.. I'm sure today is the last day

Pattern: Lacy Diamonds by Andi Worthy
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Sage Green (?)
Needle Size: 7

I spent almost as much time tinking as I did knitting this one. It seemed as though I forgot a YO on every RS row!

Also finished this past week:

Pattern: Rhonda White's "Infamous" Darrell Waltrip Cloth
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Countryside Ombre
Needle Size: 7

I love this cloth. It's great for varigated yarn. I think it's kind of like the linen stitch but over two stitches instead of one. I'd make this pattern again for sure.

I love the way these 3 cloths look together and YES, I did plan it. Someday I'd like my kitchen to have a grape theme on beige walls with green leaves and these cloths will be perfect as the 'blue' one is really purple. I'll put these away to save them for that day! It will be like a gift for the new kitchen!

Yesterday I went to DDs school and talked/demonstrated spinning with both the wheel and the drop spindle (thanks for the loan P) I watched a few videos on i can spin on how to spin with the drop spindle and all of a sudden it all clicked. I'm so excited. I'll spin the longwool on the spindle I think cuz then I can have two going at the same time. The kids were great and we had a wonderful time. I also taught them a folk song about spinning (naturally) I'llo post pictures of the spindle stuff later. Sorry I don't have any pictures from school... wish I did

Happy crafting

Just 1 more thing

Pattern: GW's Aran Face Cloth
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Grape
Needle Size: 7

I finished this tonight as I was putting DS1 to bed. But I think there was a mistake in the pattern. Maybe it was fixed in the KAL posts and I missed it. Leave it to me to not notice until I bound off and cut the yarn. So I'll just leave it that way. It's one of my favorite colors so I guess I could keep it for myself! Plus I love cables both knitting them and looking at them

Pictures, pictures, pictures

As promised from yesterday…in order of completion:

Pattern: 3 Cabled cloth
Mid-Jan KAL from Monthly Dishcloth KAL group
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Sunshine
Needle Size: 7

This was quite a different cloth for me. I've been working on cables on the never ending poncho so that wasn't the challenge. But having the cables run right up to the short border, makes it kind of wavy.... I think the border needs to be wider at the top and bottom for the cloth to lay flat.. Just my 2¢ It was fun to use my KP Options kit though... I really love those needles

Pattern: Strawberry-Mary Knitting and Crochet Corner mid-Jan KAL
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Red
Needle Size: 7

It took me to read someone else's guess after I finished this to see the pattern, but now it's clearly visible to me. Thanks Mary

Next up is the fiber that I received in some fluffy mail yesterday :-) I love touching it... Can't wait to spin but I need to finish the Romney I have first! Thanks Lea :-)

From left to right:
TOP ROW- Merino Tencel- Ashland bay by Paradise Roving
Polwarth Roving by Spirit Trail Fibers
Brown BFL/Alpaca Cinnamon by Paradise Fibers

MIDDLE - Merino 125 by Little Barn Inc
Merino/Tussah (70/30) Ashland Bay Autumn colorway by Paradise Fibers
Finn Top by Misty Mountain Farm

BOTTOM - California Varigated Mutant top by Little Barn Inc
BFL by Copper Moose
WIldberry Colonial Wool (Ashland Bay) by Copper Moose

They are all very soft but I love the merinos (naturally) but the polwarth is so soft it feels like cotton. I'm thinking it is a cross between polypal and coopwarth sheep but not sure. The BFL is also heavenly. The picture doesn't do justice to these gorgeous fibers. And really they need to be petted to be appreciated :-)

Lastly, my lastest spinning adventure. This represents about 2 bobbins worth. It's 345 yards give or take. Still thick and thin but the overtwist is all but gone. I've learned to slow my foot down and relax through the process. In fact, I relaxed so much Friday night that I fell asleep spinning. I found some of my hair spun in with the wool. Guess it didn't help that it was after 2 AM!

Here it is in it's skein...
I'm wondering if I should pack it away for when I become much better spinner and want to spin thick and thin but can't get it that way anymore. LOL

Just the facts

Well the IL went home this evening. DH is still on his way home from the airport.
Yesterday we had some snow in the AM.. and it's been cold. School started late for me but not for DD and for the first time I forgot to take ANY knitting along... so I had to do what they pay me to do all day long HAHA
I've been spinning here and there. I wound a skein up on the ball winder that is about 105 yards long. The blue tinge is from something that was on the raw wool in spots (actually in a localized spot) that P claims was medicine that they put on Fuzzy for some reason. Most of it washed out, but there are remnants. I've since decided that from now on I'll keep that wool/roving separate and dye it before spinning

I finished 2 cloths today. The monthly dishcloth mid-january KAL and Mary's Knitting and Crochet KAL. I'll probably be gifting both of them. Definitely the cable one, to a teacher colleague who expressed a desire to have one. I'll put pictures on after I take them.

I got fluffy mail today. A fellow CD and spinning/knitting mama sent me some samples of different types of roving and top. So kind :-) She included where she purchased each as well... Pictures and details to follow.

Yesterday I got fluffy mail too... Fleece from a Lincoln Longwool lamb from Peaceful Patures in TN. The fleece is incredibly clean of VM... I haven't gone through it all (well not much of it at all in fact) but dug my hands into the bag and every sample I pulled out was unbelievably clean.

Also, I stopped at a farm on the way home from work yesterday to inquire about the fleeces of their sheep. The woman there (whose name is also Carole - although she probably spells it without an -e) raises Suffolk sheep. Now these sheep aren't known for incredibly soft fleeces, but I bought a bag from last years shearing. She sent me up into the barn loft where there were copius amounts of fleece in bags. Mind you... it's FULL of VM and not well skirted at all.. but I bought one nevertheless. I probably could have chosen better, but it was getting dark and the boys were outside so I just grabbed the closest bag. I've yet to really inspect the wool.... that will be at least a week or so away. I still have the rest of Fuzzy to wash and card, and the Lincoln Longwool. I'm also expecting two Targhee fleeces from a purchase in about a week or so.

I've joined a new KAL group. Enid's bookmarks. The KAL started Friday but I haven't had time to dig through the stash fopr sportweight. I know there is some white, so I'll use that, then dip dye the bookmark. Hopefully it will work. I'll do it tmrw.

I leave you with a shot of a lily from my birthday bouquet, just at it's peak.
Happy crafting everyone!

FINALLY

finished the Mid-December KAL from the Monthly Dishcloth KAL group. Boy this one really gave me some troubles! I kept losing a YO when I was on the purl side... But I won... and I like it. Admittedly, it's much prettier in a solid color, but this will be gifted to a friend who I know will love the bright colors (Hope it stays that way... maybe I'll give it a white vinegar bath b4 I gift it!)

Pattern: Snow Drops by Andi Worthy
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Over The Rainbow
Needles: Size 7 bamboo dpns

SnB quote for the weekend: "Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work." - Aristotle
That quote perfectly fits this dishcloth

On the home front, we de-decorated for Christmas... Now to get the kids going with putting away their toys... have to work on that tmrw!

Off to bed so that I can be awake when the kids get me up in 3 hours!

What FOs?

Well I do have 1!
It's the KAL from the Love2KnitDishcloth party on Dec 29th. I finished it on the 30th but didn't take a picture until tonight.

Pattern: Tami- mod @ Love2KnitDishcloths Yahoo Group
Yarn: Lily's Suger and Cream
Color: Rose Pink
Needle: Size 7 Bamboo

I have 4 different cloths OTN now. One I'll finish tonight I think from the Monthly DIshcloth Group KAL for January. It's still going on but I figured out what the pattern is, so I rather just finish it up and do the dishcloth fun KAL day by day. I think I may use the one from MDC in an exchange. I also have a cloth from the infamous Dishcloth hangups for 2007 on the needles and I still haven't finished the mid-month KAL from the MDG yet. (oops)

My left hand has been giving me some troubles in the thumb joint and frankly it hurts to do those SSK and S2K1PSSO stuff....

DS2 is running a fever for some unexpected reason. I'm thankful that MIL is here to stay with him tmrw so I can go to work.

I found a Superman symbol chart that I'd like to do in a cloth for DS1... I've never worked off a chart before so I hope I'm not too dense with this.

Tmrw I think I'll post a picture of my pathetic knitting library! Well it's a start at least. I've been buying books off ebay when they are a great price, and at Michael's and Joann's with 50% off coupons. I also ordered one from Overstock.com Slowly but surely I'm building a library that I really want.

Today's entry (remember I'm still thinking that it's Wed the 3rd) of the stitch and bitch calendar is for web sightings and it's a goodie Yarn Standards It can help decode yarn labels, figure out sizing and understand yarn weight. Also included is a master list of knitting abbreviations and everything is downloadable as .pdf files, YEAH for the Craft Yarn Council of America
