yarn p0rn

This is what I bought for myself in BA

Merino top roving

Manos Clasica

I started the Wii Active 30 day program yesterday.. I'm a little sore.
This morning after the Wii session, I tamed the jungle yard. Cut the grass andtrimmed the holly and roses and weeded all the beds. It took me almost 4 hours. As I was weeding it started to spit and rain... but I didn't cave... I'm a bit tired now... so the afternoon will be an easy one for me.

More pictures tmrw of knitted items!

fiber, fiber everywhere

and not much time to knit.

Wednesday, the mailman delivered 1000g of lucious 100purewool merino... half of it was 3 ply worsted weight and the other half single ply laceweight. All of it undyed... just waiting for me to play!

Thursday, he delivered 1 pound of lucious natural white Blue Face Leicester top... I mean I could roll in the stuff. I took a chunk and wrapped it round my neck like a scarf. DS1 sat on my lap and said.. "oh just cover me in that. it feels so good" (I guess I'm training the boys well. DD hates the thought of anything resembling wool or cotton.)

Seriously though, I have no time to knit (or spin) these days. How will I ever finish the gift list?

•Mom - shawl
•Dad - my not so scarf
•Bro 1 - hat
•Bro 2 - hunting mitts
•SILs and niece - half dozen dishcloths each
•Nephew - Binary hat (he's a computer geek)
•Niece's DH - Tychus
•Friend - Crayon Scarf
•Friend's DD - Wave Hat
•DH - socks (vest in queue... yarn needs to be spun first)
•Kids teachers - purses
•Daycare teacher - fingerless mitts

I have more but... the list grows and time diminishes... enough to make me crazy

The final cloth…

for the August birthday

Pattern: Mason Dixon ballband cloth
Yarn: Lily's Sugar & Cream and Elmore Pisgah Peaches & Cream
Color: Pumpkin and Butter & Cream
Needle: Susan Bates size 6

This makes a half dozen and with that I think I'll stop. Time to get the needles clackin' on something else again!

It was like Christmas at my house today. I got a package in the mail with double the amount of this lovely Corriedale cross roving... two pounds of it. I bought it from ebay but it orignally comes from Ashland Bay. Now to decide what colors to dye it. I think I'll dye before spinning, then braid it and look at it for a bit.... it feels lovely. DH just rolled his eyes. LOL

I'm thinking of printing one of my sunflower pictures to put on the top of set of 6 cloths after they're wrapped. The colors would be perfect... too bad I can't just put a sunflower on the top! Maybe I should consider a sunflower hot pad to go with the set.... I really am addicted to knitting these small projects, they go by so quickly and are so satisfying.

On a very sad note, I learned the other day that a dear friend of mine who moved away from me a couple of years ago was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She has had a full life, but I still feel so sad. The prognosis isn't good, they've predicted about 8-12 weeks left. So prayers for a peaceful passing would be appreciated for my dear sweet Gene. She is my surrogate mum in the best sense of the word.

FO and redyed

Here's the blue overdyed with Wilton's icing gel in medium blue with a hint of dark blue (which made the purple) I really love how this turned out and can't wait to spin it!

This is the cloth I finished a few days ago. I have to look to get the info on the pattern. It's cute enough for V-day. I have another shot of it which showcases the hearts better but the color is way off. As promised yesterday the details follow :-)

Pattern: Love Day Cloth
Yarn: Lily's Sugar 'n Cream
Color: Red
Needle: Size 7 Knitpicks Options (have I said I love these needles??)

Happy Crafting

My addition to the KA Dye-along

from the get Stitchy forums.

Last night DS1 and I took a few rolags of Fuzzy and turned it purple. I only had 1 and about 1/2 packets of grape KA so I decided to cheat a bit and add some Wilton's purple from the Blues Clues set. I love how it turned out! There are bits of pink too. Now I have to run out tmrw and buy some more grape so I can finish the purple part of the top.

Today while cooking dinner, I opted for the blue. I put 4 rolags in the bottom of the pot and added 2 packs of Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade.... then put another 5 or 6 rolags on top and added 4 packs of berry blue. This isn't precisely the color I was after... A bit too much yellow for me. I think I'll be cheating and overdying with some Wilton's medium blue from the same Blues Clues gel set. I'll post a picture tmrw of how it turned out!

My idea was to spin them each a sport weight and then ply them together for more of a heavier DK or something... but I want more of a blue to mix with that purple.... so I'll keep working on it!

I have another cloth to post but no picture. I'll get on that later.

I'm going to give a demonstration at DDs school about spinning. Their next unit of inquiry is historical, called 'then and now' about how things have changed... I'm so excited. I have a few weeks to get it all together to plan, but I think it could be a great lesson. (and one to put in my repertoire... although it will only be partly musical, but hey you never know.....)

Late start tmrw at school :-) For severe cold weather. This time I'm sure it's for the kids who are walking. I'll take it. We had a late start last Friday as well. DS2 had a rx to his amoxicillin... at first we thought it was the flu, but the hives are now on his belly. poor kid!
