Lotsa stuff

First, Absorba the Great is complete! A tad late for the April Showers Get Stitchy KAL. Here he is:

Pattern: Absorba the Great from the Mason Dixon book
Yarn: Peaches and Cream double worsted triple stranded
Colors: White, Ecru and Varigated Green
Needle: Size 15 Knit Picks Options set

As you can see the greens bring out my turquoise bathroom fixtures.... Gotta love the 50s!

Next up is what I sent my pal from the Monthly DIshcloth Spring Exchange. I've been waiting to post until I know it was received and I got a mail yesterday that she loved it. So without further ado:

Cloth Pattern: Ladybug from
Yarn Used: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Red
Needle: Size 7 Bamboo

Wooden Ladybug magnet - made from wood cut out at Michael's
Stitch Markers: Made by me :-)

Fortunately, I knew that red was Barbara's favorite color. Little did I know that she collected ladybugs..so I really lucked out on that one. I'm glad you like it Barbara.

I can't wait to see what my pal sends me! It isn't an exchange in that you send to the same person who sends to you. You send to someone and they send to someone else... so that someone different mails to you. You get to meet 2 people in this exchange!

And finally the last post about the Warm Up America blanket. I wanted to post a picture with all the kids that partook in knitting part or all of a square.
Sorry that it's a tad dark, but it's the picture that will be in the yearbook. I needed my wide angle lens to get everyone in and the hallway that it was displayed in was pretty thin, which added to the difficulty in taking the picture.

And the last one is of the actual display at the art show. My friend, the art teacher, amazingly cuts out letters for bulletin boards free hand... She is an incredible art teacher. I wish I could show all the art work that was beautifully displayed throughout the entire building. It really is a sight to behold!

School Knitting Update

Well today we took inventory. There are 46 'squares' in various states of being finished. Actually there 38 completed and the other 8 will be by the weekend (Mrs. C and I will see to that!) I'm really proud of these kids. Especially since most of them had never held a knitting needle before in their lives.

And I saw the local Girl Scout troop leaders after school and told them that I'd be happy to mark the girls books for the knitting badges who were in class with me. They already checked them out... but the good news is that next year they want to be in on the project. This could really blossom into something nice... I'm feeling happy about that.

the picture is revealed

Well the KAL ended today so I can post a picture
Pattern: Bunny by Judith
Yarn: Lily's Sugar and Cream
Color: Cream
Needle Size: 7

Visit Judith's blog. She has a lot of beautiful free patterns. She also runs the Fun Knitting Dishcloth KAL group which now has their own yahoo group in addition to the blog.

I finally CO mom's slippers the other night. I want to finish them as soon as I can. This is the yarn that I'm using. I joined the stitch for chicks KAL at stitchy. I was originally thinking of making the entire slipper blue and using the hot pink as the i cord edging. But I'm afraid there isn't enough blue. The yarn is Peace Fleece Bagdhad blue and Volgisippi Pink. I love the intensity of the colors.

The big project starts on Monday. Two groups of 24 students will be spending 80 minutes for 4 afternoons with me learning to knit (or knitting if they already can) I have to finish rewinding the yarn - 11+ pounds (another teacher is helping) and wax the chopsticks. We'll donate the squares or blanket to Warm Up America. I thought about giving them to firefly for her gracious parcels project, but the requirements for her squares may be more than these newly learning knitters can accomplish. I'll be posting daily regarding their project. Some of the kids are very excited. I know I am!

Last night I carded and spun a BUNCH of wool/yarn. I was going to go to bed early cuz I was falling asleep putting DD to bed but when I laid down I couldn't sleep. So I got up and carded, then found out we had a late start today because of the cold. So of course I stayed up way too late... oops!
